One of the most beautiful places to visit in August is Upper Antelope Canyon in Arizona. The famous light beams at Upper Antelope Canyon can only be seen during a few months in the summer and the sky has to be clear. August is in the middle of the light beam season and has great weather, giving you the best chance to see these striking light beams. This is an extremely popular time to visit so be sure to book you tickets for midday and do in very far in advance.

Jennifer Willy: Maldives, Hawaii, Bali

Below are some of the destinations with beautiful scenery and picturesque location for the month of August.

Maldives

The first place would be the Maldives. It is a tropical destination that is famous for its diving spots, beautifully blue beaches, and Banana Reef. Some of the major islands include Emboodhu Finolhu Island, Como Cocoa Island, and many more.

Hawaii, United States

Hawaii is a pretty predictable destination but no one can deny its alluring beauty. The panoramic view that it gives over the Atlantic Ocean is worth everything. Some of the major destinations include the Island of Maui, Oahu, etc.

Bali, Indonesia

Bali is another tropical destination that is famous for its amazing beaches and delicious seafood. Some of the major beaches include Pandawa beach, Seminyak beach resort, and the amazing east coast of Bali.

Matthew Butterman: Michigan's Upper Peninsula road cycling and mountain biking

Michigan's Upper Peninsula is a great place to go for a vacation in August. Particularly right now with social distancing measures still in place, miles and miles of pristine wilderness mean that it's easy to miss a crowd. There are all sorts of outdoor activities to partake in, including road cycling and mountain biking, hiking, camping, fishing and swimming. The UP's northerly latitude means that the late summer days are longer and the temperatures cooler than those downstate.

I am a 25-year veteran of the sport of cycling as a competitor, event promoter, and an industry insider. I work in PR and Marketing for Bikeride.com and also for the Tour da Yoop, Eh, a multi-day cycling event that takes place in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, this year taking place August 14-23.

Kristina Day: Bali has it all

I'm a full time traveler and have explored some wonderful places all round the world but my favourite is Bali which is why I would like to suggest Bali as an ideal place for vacation, particularly in August.

Bali is paradise almost all year round but the best time to visit is August, because the weather is just right. No rainy days at all but unlike other times of the year it’s not sweltering hot. The temperatures are just right for having breakfast outside by the pool or sipping a fresh coconut on the veranda of your rental villa. Renting a luxury villa with a large pool, tropical garden, outdoor/indoor living room is now very affordable - accommodation is being offered at amazing deals. The Balinese have such a warm and friendly nature and take pride in looking after your every need. It’s also very safe - should you lose or forget anything the likelihood is that it will still be there when you get back.

There are miles and miles of beautiful sandy beaches which are completely uncrowded and ideal for surfing (like those around Canggu), snorkelling and diving (like those in Amed). Whether you want to swim with dolphins (Lovina Beach), do a yoga retreat, meditation or sacred temple visit, go for a bike ride through the famous rice terraces, or take an instagramable photo on the enormous swings with wide open views over the countryside, Bali has it all.

Finn Cardiff: Belize sunny beaches

I highly suggest Belize once it welcomes tourists back to its sunny beaches on August 15. As of this writing, there are less than 30 cases of COVID-19 in the country and authorities have set up stringent measures to control the spread of the virus. Staying in Belize once it opens is ideal for those who want to observe social distancing because not too many visitors will flock to the country right away. The airports are now equipped with sanitation facilities and hotels have to achieve the “Tourism Gold Standard Certificate of Recognition” to ensure they're complying with health standards.

Before arriving, make sure to have a COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours before departure or have yourself submitted for a test at the airport.

I highly suggest Tobacco Caye, which is a small island at the northern part of South Water Caye Marine Reserve. The lodges are great for tourists who want to explore the protected marine reserve and shore diving. You'll find many foreign backpackers and scuba enthusiasts in this cay.

Aside from shore diving in Tobacco Caye, you can explore Caracol, which is the largest Maya site in Belize.

Carlita: Prague to explore its winding cobblestone streets

My go to location for an August vacation is Prague. The weather is still warm but you are just on the edge of the summer rush so you get to experience the city without the crowds. I've been there twice and written about it once on my travel blog here:

Prague : the crown jewel of central europe

The best thing about Prague, especially when the crowds have dissipated is being able to explore its winding cobblestone streets and climb its steep hills and spend half a day wandering the Royal Complex admiring the Pragues famous stained glass windows and getting a breathtaking view of the vista of the entire city from above.
