San Francisco: Find local activities

For the best chinese food in San Francisco, head to the Grant Place restaurant, a Chinese restaurant on 737 Washington street. A full dinner with a Chinese beer will cost around US$17, and will be sufficient.

Entering the restaurant, it is a small place with an open kitchen, where you can verify that the cooks are actually carefully preparing the food with correct level of hygiene.

I ordered some fried noodles with meat, and wasn't disappointed.

Before the food arrived, I was served with complimentary tea, but didn't even have time to taste it as the Chinese beer that I ordered arrived pretty fast - so fast, that I barely had time to have a sip at my beer before my dinner's arrival!

However, the food clearly had been freshly and correctly prepared, and it was delicious - most likely the best Chinese food in San Francisco.

Both sticks and fork were provided, but I ate them all with the sticks.

Spicy hot sriracha sauce were provided on the table, and I ate my noodles with lot of mild sriracha sauce, it was delicious!

While I was eating, the restaurant actually got very busy, and it was mostly full of people that seems to be Chinese, most likely a sign that it is indeed a good restaurant, if locals are gathering there to eat.

When the bill arrived, it was a good surprise, only US$16.75 for a fulfilling dinner with a beer, a pretty good price for USA.

The bill was of course given with a fortune cookie, in which a prediction was given, but I do not remember which one I got.

Best lunch in San Francisco

We found the best lunch in San Francisco during our free  walking tour   San Francisco in one day, where we actually got recommandations from our guide, Britt, which is a former US congressman born and raised in San Francisco - a pretty solid advice!

San Francisco in One Day free walking tour

Getting there at around 1pm, the place was pretty empty at our arrival, as we were coming a bit after the standard lunch time. We had no trouble to find a table for our group of 5 people, all attending the free  walking tour   by Britt - for sure the most friendly walking I've ever attended.

The staff was pretty nice and friendly, and we quickly got our order.

We all ordered something different, and were all surprised by the size of our plates, which were bigger than most food we all had in USA... and for a better price!

The food was very tasty, served with a complimentary glass of water, and with matching sauve.

We definitely all enjoyed our food, despite being for the first time in a Vietnamese restaurant and having basically no idea of what we would order - it was very tasty and fulfilling, we were all very happy of our choice, and of the recommandation from our guide, Britt, for the best Vietnamese lunch in San Francisco.

All the meals were served with a fork, and sticks were available on the center of the table; I enjoyed my whole meal with the sticks, and was happy to have a tasty and big lunch for only US$14.

Arriving there, I didn't know what to expect, and it was indeed a bakery. Several people were already waiting in line, so I followed them, and had a first look at the display while waiting for my turn.

The queue was actually moving pretty fast, and it was my first time ever at a Chinese bakery, and even more eating Dim Sum. I kept looking at the display and the menu inside while waiting for my turn.

After my turn arrived, I quickly ordered several items from their menu, included their famous best Dim Sum in San Francisco, but also some kind of donuts and some bread, having no idea how it would taste like!

Everything was take away only, so I rushed to my SF cheap hotel room while the food was warm.

Arriving at hotel, I did not regret my choice! For only about US$10, I had more than enough food, and it did seem like it was the best Dim Sum in San Francisco, everything was delicious!

I enjoyed them all, and nearly regretted to have to leave San Francisco soon to visit my friend in Tahiti, as the food has been so good in San Francisco, and especially in the Chinatown area.
