Hakone, Japan

Hakone, Japan is the best place to vacation in February. Hakone is only about 45 minutes away from Tokyo via public transportation, but it is a relaxing hot-spring town in the mountains and feels a world away from the big city. It's wonderful to visit in February because Hakone is a hot-springs town, where you can spend your time relaxing in natural hot spring water and viewing the gorgeous scenery. (February's temperature tends to hover around 0-5 degrees celsius in Hakone, so bring your coat and enjoy your hot springs; you won't freeze.)

I've been there twice before and would happily go again. If you go, definitely consider staying in a ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn that offers private hot springs facilities and on-site, delicious dining. Also visit the Hakone Koawkien Yunessun, a literal hot-springs park where you can bathe in red wine (among other things).

February in Western Australia: Exploring Margaret River

The region of Margaret River, in Western Australia, is a natural eden of white-sand beaches, shallow crystalline waters, red-soiled forests, cute towns, and world-class cellar doors. This corner of the world remains a secret for most international tourism, making it a perfect Southern Hemisphere getaway for a few days of sunkissed hedonistic relaxation.

February is the best time of the year to visit the region. You'd get to indulge in the last bites of summer, with kids already starting school and the year unfolding in full swing -equals... fewer crowds!

After spending a week of long sunrise strolls at the beach, vivid sunsets, wine-tasting, swimming, and road-tripping, I must say Margaret River is beyond stunning. From Meelup Beach to Yallingup's limestone caves, the Injidup natural spa, and the Busselton Jetty, I'd go back in a heartbeat -and may never leave again!

The best way to get to Margaret River is to fly into Perth and pick a rental car or hop on a bus -around 3 hours- to the town of Margaret River.

Dunsborough is another well-located base to start your trip! When talking about the future of the region, it'd be great to include more public transport to get around towns.

Moab, Utah

If you’re looking for a serene getaway with beautiful rock landscapes unlike anywhere else and sleep under the stars, then Moab, Utah might be worth checking out and it’s still accessible during the health crisis so you can take the family and get away for a bit.

There’s a reason Moab is still a popular destination even when travel is dwindling and it’s because it features incredible rock configurations such as Arches and Canyonlands that display natural red rock in an almost artful way. Check out the white water rafting while you’re there because the Red River offers some of the best views around.

The spa programme at Al Nahda Resort & Spa is a unique concept throughout the Middle East. Each guest meets a Wellness Consultant on arrival, to discuss their programme of spa treatments and activities. This individual programme is made up of spa treatments (relaxation, beauty and medical), yoga, fitness and other activities.

Each person or couple live in their own little villa building option of either ground floor or first floor. Each sports activity mentioned above is in a separate building, and you are given a bicycle to travel between buildings.you can also walk through the enclosed compound to go to the outdoor swimming area or to the outdoor restaurant.

The path between various buildings is decorated with different fruit trees from which you can pick fruit while you make your way between building. It is truly a garden of eden experience.

The compound is located in beautiful and scenic city of Muscat, Oman. With crystal clear blue skies, pollution free, lowest pandemic country and backdrop range of mountains. Day activities are many but my favourite was driving to a secluded beach where you can hire a boat and see the beautiful colorful reefs or scuba dive in crystal clear waters of the gulf of Oman. There are also day trips to the desert for The Dune experience.

Steamboat Springs, Colorado

February is an extra special time of year to visit Steamboat Springs, Colorado where you can enjoy all the things that can make winter in the mountains so fun! While this town is popular for its expansive ski mountain resort, the town itself is full of charm and history and there is a vibrant community of locals that doesn't make it feel so much like a touristy town.

The Winter Carnival takes place in February, where you can enjoy events around town including music, food, late-night bonfires with s'mores, snow sculptures, and a ski-jumping jamboree on the local hill downtown. Don't miss seeing the Diamond Hitch Parade -- where people, vehicles, and animals (including horses) pull people through the snow-filled downtown streets on skis doing all sorts of tricks and jumps.

Another must-see is the Night Extravaganza which takes place at the local ski hill downtown and includes illuminated skiers parading down the mountain in lighted-suits and sparklers. The night is topped off with fireworks in the wintry sky that illuminate the snow-covered mountains below. And after all that fun, you can soak those tired muscles in the natural Strawberry Hot Springs tucked away in the mountains just a few miles from town.

Paris, France

My wife, Shauna, and I visited Paris, France in February of 2019. This was our first time traveling anywhere across the Atlantic Ocean to a place Shauna has always dreamed of visiting. And we both loved it! So much that we plan on making Paris a yearly trip from now on.

We loved our visit and everything that Paris had to offer. However, we did end up visiting there during some of the Yellow Jacket protesting. The protesting has since slowed down, and hopefully gotten things under control to make our next visit even better.

Two things that we loved the most and would recommend to anyone going is the No Diet Club tour, and the Seine River Dinner Cruise. We did both of these activities early on our trip and so glad we did. We got to see a vast majority of the city, and really take in the culture early on. This allowed us to enjoy our stay even more, and also allowed us to go back to some of our favorite spots we visited. Next time we plan on doing a bar crawl early on!

Key West, Florida

Traveling in the cold weather months is the best! February is one of the slower traveling months so you can get amazing deals on flights and hotels.

One of my favorite places to go is Key West, Florida. The weather is warm all year. Winter months are especially great to visit this part of Florida since you do not have to worry about hurricanes, yet!

This unique island has a ton to do for the entire family from Duval Street filled with bars, to diving, to dolphin encounters. In February is whenever the winter crowds begin to lessen, especially during the end of the month. The Florida Keys are an easy destination to get to from much of the US. You can fly direct there or drive across the beautiful 7-mile bridge from MIA or FLL. Key West has several bed and breakfast hotels that are historic. Key West also has the Southernmost Point of the Continental US. Key West is only 90 miles away from Cuba. Key West is famous for its conch style homes, vibrant nightlife, and watersports. Visiting the Florida Keys will definitely feel like you are on a five-star island!

Andalucia, South of Spain

Andalucía, with it's mild winter temperatures, the south of Spain has everything you need. from the white villages nested in the high Sierra to the city of Ronda where Orson Wells is buried or go for some whiking . Visit Seville, home of flamenco and tapas; gateway to America, the New World.

Or Córdoba and its past Califal splendor. Taste Jamón or impress your friends and family with skills learned while taking a cooking class. Or better yet, visit the Alhambra in Granada, the crown jewel. The last Muslim kingdom in the Iberian Peninsula. And if you still fancy some winter sports, you can ski in Sierra Nevada. Come for the experience of a lifetime.

France, Meribel or Uruguay, Punta Del Diablo

France, Meribel - The whole area is super picturesque, particularly when it snows. It is a ski location, slightly low key that offers amazing and breathtaking panoramic views. It includes a cabin spa, Italian cuisine, meat bars and more.

Uruguay, Punta Del Diablo - Spring is a great season to visit this untapped wild place. It is beautiful, isolated and completely rural. During spring it is also seldom visited by the locals, so you get the white beaches all to yourself.

Carlsbad, California

You may not have the means or the availability that you’ve had in previous years for your annual coastal getaway abroad, but you still need to take a vacation for your health.

Revel in the same relaxation and warm breezes much closer to home and for less cost, in Carlsbad, California.

Florida gets all the press for the perfect place for February. Let everyone else go there. And San Diego gets all of the press for the perfect year-round vacation spot, but you’ll enjoy less people and more beach at this northern San Diego County coastal village. My husband and I have been lured back year-round over a dozen times.

Every single person we ever encountered there is friendly. We have never had a bad meal. If you can tear yourself away from the beach and the town’s European charm, there are so many things to do so nearby, from ogling the surfers the next town north in Oceanside to unleashing your inner child at Legoland just outside of town. You can even pop into San Diego: dreamily gaze at the breathtaking coastal scenery while riding the COASTER rail into Old Town San Diego.

Conditions need to be just right for Mother Nature to put on her fantastic annual display at Horsetail Fall, know as the Firefall. This natural phanomina is visible for the first two weeks in February if, there is flowing water in Horsetail Fall and ample sunshine at sunset. Stay in a romantic cabin, lakeside chalets, or charming bed and breakfast in the south Yosemite gateway towns of Bass Lake and Oakhurst, California. Enjoy seasonal menus, the Madera Wine Trail, plus hiking and mountain biking in the lower elevations of the region. Even if the Firefall doesn't appear during your time in the park, the adventure of exploring the breathtaking scenery of Yosemite in February is well worth the effort.
